Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE)
A hybrid quantum–classical algorithm that finds the lowest-energy 3D conformation of a short peptide on a tetrahedral lattice with a Miyazawa–Jernigan contact potential (Robert et al. 2021).

At a glance
| Energy model | Tetrahedral lattice + full Miyazawa–Jernigan contact potential (20 amino acids). |
| Ansatz | RealAmplitudes, reps = 2, full entanglement. |
| Optimizer | CVaR objective + Differential Evolution (population, F = 0.5, CR = 0.7). |
| Qubits | Set by chain length: length-7 → 9 qubits, length-8 → 13 qubits. |
| Validated | APRLRFY → −1.425 (exact match); DRVYIHPF → −1.925 with P(GS) up to 60.6% via α-annealing. |
